NIA Launches Probe into Alleged Bomb Blast Near Israel Embassy in Delhi; Two Suspects Identified

The ‘blast’ reported near the Israel Embassy in Delhi, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken charge of the investigation. The incident, which prompted a call to Delhi Police, is now under the scrutiny of an NIA team. It is now accompanied by personnel from the Delhi Special Cell and Dog Squad.

On Wednesday morning, the investigative team reached the Israeli Embassy to commence their inquiry into the alleged ‘blast’ incident. Simultaneously, Delhi Police, after reviewing CCTV footage, have identified two individuals as ‘suspects’ in connection with the incident. However, officials have not yet confirmed their involvement.

Sources reveal that the two individuals were captured on CCTV near the Israel Embassy on Tuesday evening. The authorities are actively working to establish the identity of the suspects and determine their activities around the time of the reported ‘blast’ call.

The police are currently examining CCTV footage from adjacent areas to trace the suspects’ route to the site. Additionally, a letter addressed to the Israeli ambassador was discovered near the Embassy on Tuesday evening. The letter, written in English, contains threatening language, with the group named as “Sir Allah Resistance,” according to sources. The content of the letter is currently under examination by the authorities.

Delhi Police received the initial call about a ‘blast’ near the Israel Embassy in the Chanakyapuri area on Tuesday. Despite the reported sound, no evidence of an explosion was found at the scene. 

Delhi Fire Services received the call at around 6 pm. The Delhi Police Crime Unit, Delhi Fire Services, Delhi Police bomb disposal squad and FSL experts responded to the call.

According to reports, a security guard outside the embassy heard a loud sound about 5 pm, which sounded like a tire popping. However, sources in the special cell deny that there was an explosion. Security in the area has been put on high alert, and CCTV cameras have been turned on.

Guy Nir, spokesperson for the Israeli embassy, confirmed the incident, stating, “Yes, there was an incident. We are not sure what it is exactly yet… the police and our security team are investigating the matter.” The Israeli foreign ministry assured that no embassy staff was harmed, and Indian and Israeli agencies are collaborating to thoroughly investigate the incident.
