The billionaire entrepreneur emphasized his concerns about the economic repercussions of illegal immigration, pointing to the various benefits and services available to undocumented individuals, which he believes contribute to the nation’s housing affordability crisis.
The Tesla CEO highlighted specific privileges available to illegal immigrants, such as access to bank loans, mortgages, insurance, driver’s licenses, free healthcare in California and New York, and in-state college tuition.
Musk questioned the fairness of such benefits, stating, “What’s the point of being a citizen if an illegal gets all the benefits but doesn’t pay taxes or do jury duty?” He linked these factors to the soaring housing costs, asserting that they are a major contributor.
Musk’s criticism extends beyond economic concerns. He suggested that the influx of illegal immigrants is politically motivated, claiming that Biden aims to solidify a “permanent majority” for the Democratic Party.
Musk proposed a simple solution, stating that no new laws are required but rather an executive order to demand proof before granting asylum hearings.
This critique comes amid a significant surge in the number of migrants entering the United States during the Biden administration, with approximately 2.3 million immigrants reported by The Washington Post.

Elon Musk’s perspective on immigration is not new. As a legal immigrant himself, he has consistently advocated for controlled borders and proper screening processes.
Musk has expressed support for legal immigration pathways and endorsed the construction of a border wall during a visit to Eagle Pass on the Texas-Mexico border, aligning with some of the stances of former President Donald Trump.
While critical of illegal immigration, Musk clarified his overall stance, stating, “I am very much PRO increasing legal immigration significantly. I’m not anti-immigration, I’m just against a massive number of unvetted people flooding into America, which any rational person should be.
