On January 1, Minister Pralhad Joshi confirmed the finalization of the idol selection for the Prana Pratishtapana of Lord Rama in Ayodhya. He commended Arun Yogiraj as a proud sculptor of the country.

The official announcement by the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teertha Kshetra trust is anticipated on January 5. Trust member Bimlendra Mohan Pratap Mishra described the selection process as the idol speaking to you and captivating observers.

Yogiraj, humbled by the recognition, shared his belief that the idol should exude divinity, especially as it represents the incarnation of God.

The announcement, made on social media, has stirred excitement and pride, with Yogiraj’s idol being one of three under consideration by the Ram Temple trust.

Who is Arun Yogiraj?
Arun Yogiraj, a distinguished sculptor hailing from a family with a rich legacy in the craft, transitioned from an MBA graduate to pursue his true passion. His father and grandfather, both renowned sculptors, influenced his deep connection to the art.

Despite briefly working in the corporate sector after completing his MBA, Yogiraj’s heart was always set on sculpting. His dedication and craftsmanship have earned recognition from none other than Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking about the selection of Yogiraj’s idol for the Ram Temple, his wife Vijetha expressed immense joy, stating, “It’s like a dream come true.” Yogiraj’s mother, Saraswathi, is equally thrilled that her son’s work will soon be showcased to the world.

Arun Yogiraj, currently one of the most sought-after sculptors in India, started sculpting at the age of 11.

Arun Yogiraj used a unique Krishna shila (stone) from Mysuru’s Bujjegoudanapura village to craft the Ram Lalla idol, showcasing his dedication to both his craft and the spiritual significance of the idol.

Yogiraj’s notable works:
30-foot statue of Subhash Chandra Bose near India Gate
12-foot-tall sculpture of Adi Shankaracharya in Kedarnath
21-foot-tall Hanuman statue in Mysore.

Trust members of Ram Mandir remain tight-lipped, emphasizing the need for an official announcement by Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra’s secretary, Champat Rai.
