Bharatiya Janata Party Removes West Bengal Leader Anupam Hazra From National Secretary Post

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took decisive action on Tuesday by relieving Anupam Hazra of his position as the party’s national secretary in West Bengal. The decision was announced following extensive organizational meetings conducted by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President JP Nadda, who engaged with key members of the West Bengal party to devise effective strategies in preparation for upcoming elections.

The dynamic duo, Shah and Nadda, conducted a series of organizational meetings with BJP workers in West Bengal throughout the day. Post these deliberations, Amit Shah expressed confidence in the state’s electorate, stating, “The people of Bengal trust PM Modi and are all set to bless the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections with 35 seats.”

Setting an ambitious target, the Union Minister aims for the BJP to secure 35 out of the 42 parliamentary seats in West Bengal during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He reinforced this goal during a rally in Suri, Birbhum district, in April, targeting Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool Congress’s National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee. Shah declared, “Give us 35 seats in 2024, and the Mamata Banerjee government will be out. There is corruption in Bengal, and only the BJP can stop it.”

The move to remove Anupam Hazra from the position of the party’s national secretary is significant. A former Lok Sabha MP, Hazra had been openly critical of the party’s functioning in the state. The decision was announced on the same day when JP Nadda and Home Minister Amit Shah were in Kolkata for a series of political programs.

This strategic repositioning within the party is interpreted as a clear message to dissidents, emphasizing the importance of organizational discipline and aligning with the leadership’s directives. The BJP aims to strengthen its foothold in West Bengal, signaling a focused and disciplined approach as it gears up for the electoral battle ahead.
