Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, delivered a powerful speech at the BJP’s National Convention 2024 held at Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam on Sunday.
In his address, Shah expressed confidence that terrorism, separatism, and Naxalism are on their last breath, asserting that India will be completely free of these challenges under the Modi government 3.0.
Shah compared the upcoming Lok Sabha election to the battle of Kurukshetra. He praised Prime Minister Modi as the leader of the ruling BJP-led development combine, which he compared to the Congress-led ‘INDI alliance’, which he accused of being a bunch of ‘dynastic parties’ with an eye on corruption and patronage.’
The home minister accused the Congress of declining the invitation to the Ram temple consecration ceremony, opposing the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, and the repeal of Article 370 due to what he termed as appeasement politics.
“On one hand, there is a developmental alliance under Modi’s leadership, and on the other, there is a dynastic alliance under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership. I can say with conviction that the nation will stand with the BJP, which is working for the poor, and not with the parties that are there only to make the careers of their children,” Shah declared.
While proposing the resolution “BJP: Desh ki aasha, vipaksha ki hatasha” (BJP: Country’s hope, opposition’s despair), Shah criticized the INDIA bloc parties for their alleged involvement in corruption. He accused opposition parties of being in denial mode, opposing key measures such as the repeal of Article 370, ban on triple talaq, the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, or the construction of the new Parliament building.
Amit Shah’s speech focused on the “untainted” leadership of Modi, whom he likened to a “diya” (candle) dispelling darkness. He highlighted the successes of the Modi government, contrasting them with the opposition alliance, which he described as “self-serving and corrupt.”
According to Amit Shah, the INDIA bloc and Congress are responsible for undermining the nation’s democratic spirit through corruption, dynastic politics, appeasement, and casteism. In contrast, he praised Modi for ending these issues and bringing the politics of performance to the center stage over the last decade.
Labeling the Congress as the “mother of corruption,” Shah listed alleged scams related to coal block allocation, 2G spectrum, and defense deals during its rule from 2004-2014.
He asserted that Modi’s tenure has witnessed development across all sections of society, enhancing India’s global standing. Shah expressed confidence that the public has no doubt about Modi’s ability to retain power for a third term.
Amit Shah concluded by taking a swipe at Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, stating that while the Congress launches movements to gain power, the BJP does so for the country’s betterment, citing campaigns like removing Article 370, constructing the Ram temple, or freeing Goa from Portuguese rule.
The National Convention provided a platform for Shah to outline the BJP’s vision for India as the nation heads into the crucial Lok Sabha polls.
