Mithun Chakraborty Hospitalized in Kolkata: Iconic Actor Undergoes Treatment After Suffering Brain Stroke

Veteran actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata on Saturday due to reported chest pain, which has now been diagnosed as an Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident (Stroke). 

The 73-year-old actor, recently honored with the prestigious Padma Bhushan Award, is currently under observation and receiving treatment.

The hospitalization occurred around 10.30 am on Saturday when Mithun Chakraborty conveyed feeling uneasy. His son, Mahaakshay Chakraborty, clarified that it was a routine checkup, emphasizing the actor’s good health. 

However, the subsequent statement from Apollo Hospital, Kolkata, paints a more serious picture, revealing weakness in the right upper and lower limbs.

The Emergency Department of Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals conducted necessary laboratory and radiology investigations, including an MRI of the brain. The diagnosis confirmed an Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident (Stroke). 

The statement from the hospital indicated that Mithun Chakraborty is fully conscious, well-oriented, and has been placed on a soft diet. A team of doctors, comprising a neuro-physician, cardiologist, and gastroenterologist, is closely evaluating his condition.

Mithun Chakraborty’s illustrious career spans over five decades, featuring more than 350 films in multiple Indian languages. 

The actor, who recently appeared as a judge on Dance Bangla Dance, expressed disbelief and gratitude upon receiving the Padma Bhushan in January 2024. 

In a video message, he dedicated the honor to his fans in India and abroad, acknowledging their unconditional love.

The news of Mithun Chakraborty’s hospitalization has stirred concerns among fans and well-wishers. As the actor undergoes treatment, the entire industry and his admirers await updates on his health.
