Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan emerged triumphant at the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards (DPIFF) 2024, securing the prestigious ‘Best Actor’ title for his exceptional performance in Atlee’s directorial masterpiece, ‘Jawan’.
Expressing his gratitude, Shah Rukh Khan acknowledged the entire team and the audience for their support. “I am genuinely thrilled and touched that people have recognized the work that I have put in,” SRK stated with a beaming smile. He humbly emphasized the significance of teamwork in the creation of art, promising to continue entertaining audiences worldwide with his versatile roles.
The DPIFF ceremony, graced by stars such as Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sunil Grover, Aditya Roy Kapur, Anil Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Vikrant Massey, and director Atlee, celebrated outstanding individuals from both television and film industries. The atmosphere was electric as the coveted trophy was presented to those who had left an indelible mark on the cinematic space.
Shah Rukh Khan’s cinematic journey in 2023 was nothing short of phenomenal. Following his action-packed return in Siddharth Anand’s ‘Pathaan’, which shattered box office records and joined the ranks of the highest-grossing Indian films, SRK continued his winning streak with ‘Jawan’. The September release, showcasing the actor in yet another dynamic action role, soared past Rs 1000 crore at the global box office, solidifying SRK’s stature as a box office powerhouse.
In December, SRK added another feather to his cap with ‘Dunki’, a film that resonated well with audiences and contributed to his extraordinary year in cinema.
The evening also saw filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga receiving the Best Director award for his film ‘Animal’. The movie with Ranbir Kapoor playing the role of Rannvijay Singh seeking revenge, achieved tremendous success, grossing over Rs 800 crore at the box office.
